==Career==
Born in [Valdobbiadene](/source/Valdobbiadene), [Veneto](/source/Veneto), Villanova started his career at Veneto club [Cittadella](/source/A.S._Cittadella). In 2003–04 season, he was loaned to [Internazionale](/source/F.C._Internazionale_Milano), ahead [Nathan Coe](/source/Nathan_Coe), [Alex Cordaz](/source/Alex_Cordaz) (promoted to first team) and [Giacomo Bindi](/source/Giacomo_Bindi) (promoted from ''Allievi Nazionali'' U-17 team) as first choice goalkeeper of [''Primavera'' Team (U20 Youth Team)](/source/F.C._Internazionale_Milano_Primavera).<ref>{{cite news|url=http://www.inter.it/aas/news/reader?L=en&N=14371|title= INTER PRIMAVERA 2003/04: GOALKEEPERS |date=14 June 2004|accessdate=25 January 2010|publisher=inter.it}}</ref>

In summer 2004, he left for [Bassano Virtus](/source/Bassano_Virtus_55_S.T.) of [Serie D](/source/Serie_D), helped the non-professional side promoted to [Serie C2](/source/Serie_C2). In the next season, Villanova played 31 matches for the newcomer and survived from relegation.

He then returned to Cittadella and played as [Andrea Pierobon](/source/Andrea_Pierobon)'s backup. In 2009–10 season, he became the first choice goalkeeper. Despite played 32 out of possible 42 Serie B in [2010–11 Serie B](/source/2010%E2%80%9311_Serie_B). He left the club as [free agent](/source/free_agent) in 2011.
