# Simon Stepaniak

**Simon Vai Stepaniak** (born May 15, 1997) is an American former professional [football](/source/American_football) player who was an [offensive guard](/source/Offensive_guard) in the [National Football League](/source/National_Football_League) (NFL). He played college football at [Indiana](/source/Indiana_Hoosiers_football).

## College career

A three-star recruit, Stepaniak committed to [Indiana](/source/Indiana_Hoosiers_football) over offers from [Louisville](/source/Louisville_Cardinals_football), [Kentucky](/source/Kentucky_Wildcats_football), [Minnesota](/source/Minnesota_Golden_Gophers_football), [Penn State](/source/Penn_State_Nittany_Lions_football), and [Wake Forest](/source/Wake_Forest_Demon_Deacons_football), among others.[1] In his first two seasons, he played behind [Dan Feeney](/source/Dan_Feeney). As a senior, Stepaniak started 10 games at right guard and one game at left guard. He earned third-team all-[Big Ten Conference](/source/Big_Ten_Conference) honors. According to [Pro Football Focus](/source/Pro_Football_Focus), he gave up one sack as a senior. Stepaniak made 31 career starts at Indiana.[2]

## Professional career

Stepaniak was selected by the [Green Bay Packers](/source/Green_Bay_Packers) in the sixth round with the 209th pick of the [2020 NFL draft](/source/2020_NFL_draft).[3][4] He was the Packers' third straight offensive line selection.[5] He was signed on June 1, 2020.[6] He was placed on the active/[non-football injury list](/source/Non-football_injury_list) at the start of [training camp](/source/Training_camp_(NFL)) on July 31, 2020.[7] He was moved to the reserve/non-football injury list at the start of the regular season on September 5, 2020.[8] He was activated on December 9, 2020.[9] On January 12, 2021, Stepaniak was placed on [injured reserve](/source/Injured_reserve).[10] He was placed on the reserve/retired list on July 31, 2021,[11] retiring that same day.[12]
