In [1990](/source/1990_Australian_Drivers'_Championship), he won the [Australian Drivers' Championship](/source/Australian_Drivers'_Championship) and consequently CAMS Gold Star. From there, he had a disappointing [International Formula 3000](/source/International_Formula_3000) season in [1991](/source/1991_International_Formula_3000_season) for Italian team Motor Racing Di-Wheels, failing to qualify for the two events he entered at [Hockenheim](/source/Hockenheimring) in [Germany](/source/Germany) and [Brands Hatch](/source/Brands_Hatch) in [England](/source/England) (rounds 6 & 7). Kane then returned to Australia and spasmodically entered Australian Drivers' Championship rounds in coming years and achieved a top five result at the one-off [1993 Indonesian Grand Prix](/source/1993_Indonesian_Grand_Prix).
