# Simon Cole

**Simon Andrew Cole** (born 20 February 1958) is [Chief Executive](/source/Chief_Executive) of [UBC Media Group](/source/UBC_Media_Group).[1]

He co-founded the [Unique Broadcasting Company](/source/Unique_Broadcasting_Company) in 1989, which floated on the [London Stock Exchange](/source/London_Stock_Exchange) in July 2000 as part of UBC Media Group.[2] Simon started his radio career as a [BBC](/source/BBC) trainee, moving to [Manchester](/source/Manchester) in the early 1980s where he became programme director at [Piccadilly Radio](/source/Piccadilly_Radio).[1][2] Whilst at Piccadilly, Simon helped pioneer the market for national sponsored programmes.[2] He is a Fellow of The [Radio Academy](/source/Radio_Academy).[2][3]
