The '''silver oriole''' ('''''Oriolus mellianus''''') is a species of bird in the family [Oriolidae](/source/Oriolidae). It breeds in southern China and winters in mainland Southeast Asia.

Its natural habitats are [subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest](/source/subtropical_or_tropical_moist_lowland_forest) and subtropical or tropical moist [montane forest](/source/montane_forest) where it is threatened by [habitat loss](/source/habitat_loss).

==Taxonomy and systematics== 
The silver oriole was originally described as a subspecies of the [maroon oriole](/source/maroon_oriole).
