== History ==
The Lighting division was part of the first activities of [Philips](/source/Philips), that started in 1891 with an [incandescent lamp](/source/Incandescent_light_bulb) factory in [Eindhoven](/source/Eindhoven), the Netherlands.{{Citation needed|date=November 2025}}

In March 2018, Philips Lighting announced that the company would change its name to Signify, which became effective on 16 May 2018.
