The **Solorio Range** ([Spanish](/source/Spanish_language): *Sierra de Solorio*) is a mountain range located in the western side of the [Iberian System](/source/Iberian_System), [Spain](/source/Spain). It straddles [Aragon](/source/Aragon), [Castile-La Mancha](/source/Castile-La_Mancha) and [Castile and León](/source/Castile_and_Le%C3%B3n).

## Description

The ridge is roughly aligned in an E-W direction. Its northern boundary is marked by the [Jalón River](/source/Jal%C3%B3n_River) and its southern by the [Sierra de Selas](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sierra_de_Selas&action=edit&redlink=1) and the [Parameras de Molina](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Parameras_de_Molina&action=edit&redlink=1); the eastern limits are at the [Piedra River](/source/Piedra_River%2C_Spain) and the [La Tranquera Dam](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=La_Tranquera_Dam&action=edit&redlink=1), from where the ridge extends westwards until reaching [Sierra Ministra](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sierra_Ministra&action=edit&redlink=1).

There is very low population density in the area as villages are few and sparsely inhabited.[2]

This mountain chain divides the [Atlantic](/source/Atlantic) from the [Mediterranean](/source/Mediterranean) watershed, with rivers [Tajuña](/source/Taju%C3%B1a), a tributary of the [Tagus](/source/Tagus), and the [Mesa River](/source/Mesa_River), a tributary of the [Piedra](/source/Piedra_(Spain)) which is part of the [Ebro](/source/Ebro) system, having their sources in this range. In the Sierra de Solorio there is the largest [Spanish Juniper](/source/Spanish_Juniper) forest in Europe. The [Common Juniper](/source/Common_Juniper) is also found in the range.[3]
