**Siede** (ˈziːdə) is a river of [Lower Saxony](/source/Lower_Saxony), [Germany](/source/Germany). It is a left-hand (northern) [tributary](/source/Tributary) of the [Große Aue](/source/Gro%C3%9Fe_Aue), about 25 kilometres (16 mi) long. It runs mainly through the southern part of the [district of Diepholz](/source/Diepholz_(district)) and belongs to the [Weser](/source/Weser) river system.

## Course

The Siede emerges near Reihausen in the village of [Engeln](/source/Engeln) in the parish of [Bruchhausen-Vilsen](/source/Bruchhausen-Vilsen_(Samtgemeinde)). From its source, it flows in a southerly direction through the [*Samtgemeinde* Siedenburg](/source/Siedenburg_(Samtgemeinde)) and its main municipality [Siedenburg](/source/Siedenburg), to which it has given its name. It then leaves Diepholz district and discharges into the Große Aue in the [district of Nienburg](/source/Nienburg_(district)).

The tributaries of the Siede are the Kuhlenkamper Beeke (= upper and middle reaches of the [Päpser Bach](/source/P%C3%A4pser_Bach), the [Speckenbach](/source/Speckenbach_(Siede)) and the [Eschbach](/source/Eschbach_(Siede)).
