Shyroke is located on the left bank of the [Inhulets](/source/Inhulets), several kilometers east and south of the city of [Kryvyi Rih](/source/Kryvyi_Rih).

==History==
Until 18 July 2020, Shyroke was the administrative center of [Shyroke Raion](/source/Shyroke_Raion). The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast to seven. The area of Shyroke Raion was merged into Kryvyi Rih Raion.<ref>{{Cite news|title=Про утворення та ліквідацію районів. On 3 September 2022, during the [Russian invasion of Ukraine](/source/Russian_invasion_of_Ukraine), the settlement [came under fire](/source/Kryvyi_Rih_strikes_(2022%E2%80%93present)), with several houses destroyed.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Собенко |first=Надія |date=2022-09-03 |title=Росія обстріляла міста і села 6 областей. Until 26 January 2024, Shyroke was designated [urban-type settlement](/source/urban-type_settlement).
