# Shutaro Iida

**Shutaro Iida** ([Japanese](/source/Japanese_language): 飯田 周太郎; 11 March 1973 – 10 February 2026) was a Japanese video game programmer.[1]

## Life and career

Shutaro Iida worked at [Konami](/source/Konami) from 1996 to 2015, mainly as a programmer in various areas. He notably worked on *[Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow](/source/Castlevania:_Aria_of_Sorrow)*[2], *[Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin](/source/Castlevania:_Portrait_of_Ruin)*) and *[Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night](/source/Bloodstained:_Ritual_of_the_Night).*[3]

Later on in his career, he has been working with [505 Games](/source/505_Games), [Armature Studio](/source/Armature_Studio), [Inti Creates](/source/Inti_Creates) and [ArtPlay](/source/Koji_Igarashi).[4]

Iida died of pancreatic cancer on 10 February 2026, at the age of 52.[5]
