# Shon Edri

**Shon Edri**[2] (or Sean Edry,[3] Hebrew: שון עדרי; born 24 October 2003) is an Israeli professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [centre-back](/source/Centre-back) for [Maccabi Tel Aviv](/source/Maccabi_Tel_Aviv_F.C.).[4]

## Early life

Edri was born and raised in [Gedera](/source/Gedera), Israel, to an Israeli family of both [Mizrahi Jewish](/source/Mizrahi_Jewish) and [Sephardi Jewish](/source/Sephardi_Jewish) descent ([French-Jewish](/source/French-Jewish)).

He also holds a French passport, on account of his Sephardi Jewish descent (French-Jewish) ancestors, which eases the move to certain European football leagues.[5]

## Club career

### Maccabi Tel Aviv

Edri started his career in the [Maccabi Tel Aviv](/source/Maccabi_Tel_Aviv_F.C.)'s children team. On 3 March 2022, he made his senior debut with at the 4–0 win against [Maccabi Jaffa](/source/Maccabi_Jaffa_F.C.) at the [Israeli State Cup](/source/Israeli_State_Cup).[6]

On 18 July 2022, Edri signed for three years at the senior team and was immediately loaned to [Hapoel Ashdod](/source/Hapoel_Ashdod_F.C.).[7]
