# Shivering Spooks

***Shivering Spooks*** is a 1926 [short](/source/Short_film) [silent](/source/Silent_film) [comedy film](/source/Comedy_film), the 52nd in the *[Our Gang](/source/Our_Gang)* series, directed by [Robert F. McGowan](/source/Robert_F._McGowan).[1][2] Child actor Johnny Downs later became a successful character actor and starred with [George Zucco](/source/George_Zucco) in *[The Mad Monster](/source/The_Mad_Monster)* (1942).[3]

## Plot

A phony [spiritualist](/source/Spiritualism_(movement)) named Professor Fleece dupes gullible people into believing that he can contact the dead through [séances](/source/S%C3%A9ance). When the kids disrupt a séance, the professor orders his henchmen to scare them from the area.
