**Shields Lake** is a lake in [Rice County](/source/Rice_County,_Minnesota), in the [U.S. state](/source/U.S._state) of [Minnesota](/source/Minnesota).[1]

Shields Lake was named for [James Shields](/source/James_Shields_(politician,_born_1810)) (1810–1879), an American politician and U.S. Army officer.[2]
