# Sherri Littlefield

**Sherri Nienass** (born January 24, 1987)[1][2] also known as Sherri Nienass Littlefield, is an American artist, photographer,[3] curator[4] and [art dealer](/source/Art_dealer).[5][6] She is most known for her elaborate curatorial projects, and as the former director of [Foley Gallery](/source/Foley_Gallery)[7][8][9][10] on the [Lower East Side](/source/Lower_East_Side) of [Manhattan](/source/Manhattan).

In 2016, Nienass founded treat gallery,[11][12] a collaborative project that helps nonprofits and underrepresented artists through contemporary art.[13]

## Personal life

Sherri was born in [Milwaukee](/source/Milwaukee), Wisconsin, raised in [Central Florida](/source/Central_Florida)[14] and graduated from [Eau Gallie High School](/source/Eau_Gallie_High_School) in 2005. Nienass identifies as [Christian](/source/Christians), is a practicing [Lutheran](/source/Lutheranism), and attends [Lutheran Church Missouri Synod](/source/Lutheran_Church%E2%80%93Missouri_Synod) church [Our Saviour New York](/source/Our_Saviour_New_York).[15][16] Littlefield is a fan of [WWE](/source/WWE),[6] and attended [WrestleMania](/source/WrestleMania) 36.[17][18]

In 2014, she married former [music therapist](/source/Music_therapy) turned editor and writer[19] Andrew Littlefield[20] in [Atlanta, Georgia](/source/Atlanta). As of 2018, they resided in the [Crown Heights](/source/Crown_Heights,_Brooklyn) neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.[21] The couple divorced in 2026.

## Education

Nienass graduated with a [BS](/source/Bachelor_of_Science) in studio art in 2009[22][23] from [Florida State University](/source/Florida_State_University) in [Tallahassee](/source/Tallahassee,_Florida), Florida, where she was a member of [Marching Chiefs](/source/Marching_Chiefs) and classmates with multi-media and installation artist [Rachel Rossin](/source/Rachel_Rossin). She received her master's degree in fine arts in emerging media from the [University of Central Florida](/source/University_of_Central_Florida) in 2012. American interdisciplinary artist [Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz](/source/Wanda_Raimundi-Ortiz) served on her graduate thesis committee.[24] Nienass was honored as a 30 under 30 recipient in 2016 for "recognition as an outstanding young alumni who strives for greatness in her professional and personal life."[25][26]

After a summer internship at [Tandem Press](/source/Tandem_Press),[27] in [Madison, Wisconsin](/source/Madison,_Wisconsin), Nienass completed graduate school at [UCF](/source/University_of_Central_Florida).

## Career

Nienass moved to [Atlanta, Georgia](/source/Atlanta), and began working at the [Savannah College of Art and Design](/source/Savannah_College_of_Art_and_Design). She moved to New York City in 2015.[1] From 2015 to 2018, Sherri worked at [Parsons School of Design](/source/Parsons_School_of_Design).[1][21]

In 2016, Nienass launched treat gallery, a project that donates a portion of sales to local [non-profits](/source/Non-profits) and charities.[25][28] In a 2016 interview, Nienass cited Patrick and Holly Kahn, founders of Snap! Orlando, and Matthew Deleget, artist and founder of [Minus Space](/source/Minus_Space) as inspirations due to their ability to "put their families first but have a deep love for their community and career."[29]

Since 2018, Nienass has served on the board for the NY chapter of the [American Society of Media Photographers](/source/American_Society_of_Media_Photographers).[30] As of 2020, she is the Fine Art Chair.[31] Nienass aims to use her skills toward positive causes.[14]

Nienass was a judge for the 2019 [Photo District News](/source/Photo_District_News) *The Curator* Photo Contest, alongside [Flowers Gallery](/source/Flowers_Gallery) director Brent Beamon, [Bruce Silverstein](/source/Bruce_Silverstein_Gallery) director Frances Jakubek and Jackson Fine Art director Coco Conroy.[32]

Nienass has described her own art as "empathetic, comical and sympathetic"[16][33] and "a celebration and commentary on the beauty industry and contemporary consumerism."[33]

In 2019, Nienass began a documentary project, using [Snapchat Spectacles](/source/Spectacles_(product)) titled *Calling Men,* which depicted men catcalling her on the streets.[34] Through the use of special glasses (developed by [Snapchat](/source/Snapchat)), Littlefield is able to subtly photograph her [cat-callers](/source/Cat-calling) with her sunglasses in a less confrontational/direct way than a typical camera allows. The images she captures speak both to the frequency and severity of this universally shared female experience.[35][36]

During the [COVID-19 Pandemic](/source/COVID-19_pandemic), Nienass was the Interim Director of [ClampArt](/source/ClampArt).[37][38] As of 2026, Nienass is a Social Media professor at the [Fashion Institute of Technology](/source/Fashion_Institute_of_Technology) in New York City, and a Coordinator specializing in Art and Design for [Nordstrom New York City.](/source/Nordstrom)

## Exhibitions

Nienass creates and exhibits personal art while simultaneously curating art fairs and exhibitions.[39] Most notably, she was among the youngest curators at the 2019 edition of The Photography Show, an established and competitive [Photography Fair](/source/Art_exhibition) presented by AIPAD (an acronym for the Association of International Photography Art Dealers.)[40] During PULSE Art Fair's 15th anniversary, Nienass presented a colorful, large scale exhibition featuring work by over 60 artists, with proceeds benefitting the onePULSE Foundation, a non-profit linked to building a memorial regarding the [PULSE nightclub shootings](/source/Orlando_nightclub_shooting) in Orlando, Florida.[13]
