# Sheri Reynolds

**Sheri Reynolds** (born c. 1967) is an author of contemporary [Southern](/source/Southern_United_States) fiction.

She was born and raised in rural [South Carolina](/source/South_Carolina) and lives on [Virginia](/source/Virginia)'s [eastern shore](/source/Eastern_Shore_of_Virginia). She graduated from [Conway High School](/source/Conway_High_School_(South_Carolina)) in 1985, [Davidson College](/source/Davidson_College) in 1989, and [Virginia Commonwealth University](/source/Virginia_Commonwealth_University) in 1992.

She is an [associate professor](/source/Professor) and the Ruth and Perry Morgan Chair of [Southern Literature](/source/Southern_literature) at [Old Dominion University](/source/Old_Dominion_University) in [Norfolk, VA](/source/Norfolk,_Virginia). Reynolds teaches [creative writing](/source/Creative_writing) and literature classes. She won the Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council for [Higher Education](/source/Higher_education) of Virginia in 2003, and in 2005, she received a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts in playwriting. She has also taught at [Virginia Commonwealth University](/source/Virginia_Commonwealth_University), [The College of William and Mary](/source/The_College_of_William_and_Mary), and [Davidson College](/source/Davidson_College).

Her first play, *Orabelle's Wheelbarrow*, won the Women Playwrights' Initiative playwriting competition for 2005.
