**Sheleph** was a son of [Joktan](/source/Joktan), of the family of [Shem](/source/Shem).[1] ([Book of Genesis](/source/Book_of_Genesis) 10:26). Sheleph means "drawing out" or "who draws out" (Hitchcock's Bible Dictionary).
