**Shauna Garr** is an American producer and entertainment executive in Hollywood. She is best known for producing the film franchise *[How High](/source/How_High)* and *How High 2* with [Universal Pictures](/source/Universal_Pictures).

## Biography

Garr was born in Los Angeles. She is best known for producing the film franchise *[How High](/source/How_High)* and *How High 2* with Universal Pictures, which originally starred [Method Man](/source/Method_Man), [Lark Voorhies](/source/Lark_Voorhies) and [Mike Epps](/source/Mike_Epps). Garr also produced the [Fox](/source/Fox_Broadcasting_Company) TV series *[Method And Red](/source/Method_And_Red)*. She began her career with [Merv Griffin Enterprises](/source/Merv_Griffin_Enterprises) at [*Wheel of Fortune*](/source/Wheel_of_Fortune_(U.S._game_show)).

Garr was a producer for [MTV News](/source/MTV_News) in the 1990s. Segueing next to [PBS](/source/PBS),[1] Garr executive produced the 8-part docu-soap series "The Ride". This series was a critical success and introduced a teen [Paula Patton](/source/Paula_Patton).[2] Garr later joined the Disney Company's [Buena Vista Television](/source/Buena_Vista_Television) discovering writers for [Keenen Ivory Wayans](/source/Keenen_Ivory_Wayans)' late-night talk show and developing other alternative programming.

Garr also worked as vice-president of development for filmmaker [Amy Heckerling](/source/Amy_Heckerling) at [Paramount Television](/source/Paramount_Television). During this stint she is best known for setting afloat the career of *[CSI: Crime Scene Investigation](/source/CSI%3A_Crime_Scene_Investigation)* producer and screenwriter [Dustin Lee Abraham](/source/Dustin_Lee_Abraham).[3]

In 2005, she produced the documentary film *The Strip Game* for [Lions Gate Entertainment](/source/Lions_Gate_Entertainment), starring [Method Man](/source/Method_Man), [Travis Barker](/source/Travis_Barker) and [Ghostface Killah](/source/Ghostface_Killah). In 2010, [Lions Gate Entertainment](/source/Lions_Gate_Entertainment) re-released the film [virally](/source/Viral_video) and it is ranked as one of the most popular documentaries by [Hulu](/source/Hulu).[4] Garr's [South by Southwest](/source/South_by_Southwest) documentary film [1 More Hit](/source/1_More_Hit), was released on DVD, and then as a VOD January 19, 2012.

As a producer in 2012, Garr discovered [Lil Rel Howery](/source/Lil_Rel_Howery) and [Jermaine Fowler](/source/Jermaine_Fowler) for an *[In Living Color](/source/In_Living_Color)* reboot.[5][6]

In 2018, Garr returned to executive-produce *How High 2* for [Universal 1440 Entertainment](/source/Universal_1440_Entertainment) and [MTV](/source/MTV).[7] *How High 2* aired Saturday, April 20, 2019, on [MTV](/source/MTV), giving the network its highest-rated Saturday in six years, according to [MTV](/source/MTV) and [Nielsen ratings](/source/Nielsen_ratings).[8]

## Production and talent management company

Garr is known for managing actor/music performer [Method Man](/source/Method_Man). On May 20, 2021, it was announced that she and [Method Man](/source/Method_Man) formed a production company named Six AM.[9]
