'''Shaodian''' ({{zh|c={{linktext|少|典}}}}) was the father of the [Yellow Emperor](/source/Yellow_Emperor) (黄帝),  according to the ''[Records of the Grand Historian](/source/Records_of_the_Grand_Historian)''.<ref>[Records of the Grand Historian](/source/Records_of_the_Grand_Historian),三皇本記"黃帝者,小典之子"</ref> He started the [Youxiong](/source/%3Aja%3A%E6%9C%89%E7%86%8A%E6%B0%8F) clan (有熊氏), whilst his wives were [Fubao](/source/Fubao) and Nüdeng of the [Youjiao clan](/source/Youjiao_clan). Fubao later gave birth to Huangdi (the [Yellow Emperor](/source/Yellow_Emperor)) and [Nüdeng](/source/%3Azh%3A%E5%A5%B3%E7%99%BB) (女登) gave birth to [Yandi](/source/Yan_Emperor).

According to ''[Discourses of the States](/source/Guoyu_(book))'', Shaodian was a stepfather of the [Yellow Emperor](/source/Yellow_Emperor):
::"It was said that Shaodian's wife [Fubao](/source/Fubao) gave birth to the [Yellow Emperor](/source/Yellow_Emperor) near the [Ji River](/source/Ji_River) and the [Yan Emperor](/source/Yan_Emperor) next to the [Jiang River](/source/Jiang_River) which accounted to their different temperaments. Some said “Although Shaodian preceded the Yellow and Yan emperors, he was not their father.”
