# Shanaz Gulzar

**Shanaz Begum Gulzar** is a British visual artist.[1][2] She specialises in stage design and digital and installation work and has been a producer at the [Manchester International Festival](/source/Manchester_International_Festival).[3]

She was born in [Keighley](/source/Keighley), West Yorkshire, and gained a degree in fine art at [Leeds Metropolitan University](/source/Leeds_Metropolitan_University) in 1995.[1]

She starred in the 2019 [BBC Four](/source/BBC_Four) series *[Yorkshire Walks](/source/Yorkshire_Walks)*, where she walked in scenic areas with a 360 degree selfie-stick to record her surroundings.[4][5] She was an associate artist of the [National Theatre Wales](/source/National_Theatre_Wales).[6]

In 2020 she was appointed to lead [Bradford](/source/Bradford)'s bid to become the [UK City of Culture](/source/UK_City_of_Culture) in 2025;[3][7] the bid was successful.[8]
