**Shamoon Ismail** ([Punjabi](/source/Punjabi_language): شمعون اسمعیل; born 21 September 1991) is a Pakistani singer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist known for his signature blend of "[Punjabi](/source/Music_of_Punjab) and [blues](/source/Blues)".[1][2]

## Early life

Ismail was born and raised in [Islamabad](/source/Islamabad), to a [Punjabi](/source/Punjabis) [Muslim](/source/Muslims) family. He has spent most of his life in [Pakistan](/source/Pakistan) learning musical instruments, having a keen interest in playing guitars since childhood.[3]

Out of the four instruments he can play, he prefers the guitar and [bass](/source/Bass_guitar) the most while also enjoying [drums](/source/Drums).[4]

## Career

At the beginning of his career, Ismail first started releasing music on [Bandcamp](/source/Bandcamp) and [SoundCloud](/source/SoundCloud) with the help of his friends, from where he attracted a following. He often performs live on local university campuses and also in popular regional music festivals like Music Mela and [Lahore Music Meet](/source/Lahore_Music_Meet).[5] His first single "Sapne" was released in 2013.[6] He released his first music video "Tuntuna" on [YouTube](/source/YouTube) which was popular among Pakistani and Indian audiences.[7] His collaborations with other artists include MRKLE, [Talal Qureshi](/source/Talal_Qureshi), [Abdullah Qureshi](/source/Abdullah_Qureshi_(singer)), Haider Mustehsan, Osama Com Laude (OCL), [Mooroo](/source/Mooroo), Ghauri, [Young Stunners](/source/Young_Stunners_(music_duo)), [Asim Azhar](/source/Asim_Azhar), Raamis, [Annural Khalid](/source/Annural_Khalid), [Talha Anjum](/source/Talha_Anjum) and [Talhah Yunus](/source/Talhah_Yunus).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

In late 2018, Pakistani singer [Bilal Khan](/source/Bilal_Khan_(singer)) was accused of plagiarizing Shamoon Ismail's "Taare".[8]
