# Shafiq Chitou

**Shafiq Chitou** (born 23 May 1985) is a Beninese boxer. He [qualified to compete in boxing at the 2012 Summer Olympics](/source/Boxing_at_the_2012_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Qualification), but funding woes were a concern for him. He currently works as a house painter.[1] Chitou lost to [Félix Verdejo](/source/F%C3%A9lix_Verdejo) of [Puerto Rico](/source/Puerto_Rico) in the first round of the [Men's lightweight](/source/Boxing_at_the_2012_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_lightweight) event at the 2012 Summer Olympics.[2]
