Issue #11 was published in October 2006 and was the last issue released prior to editor Angela Challis' announcement that the webzine was to close. *Shadowed Realms* is currently on hiatus until the final two issues are published. The online magazine released two special issues during its run: Issue #6 - the Continuum 3 convention/[Australian Horror Writers Association](/source/Australian_Horror_Writers_Association) launch issue (featuring Continuum 3 guests [Poppy Z Brite](/source/Poppy_Z_Brite) and [Richard Harland](/source/Richard_Harland), plus [Robert Hood](/source/Rob_Hood), [Terry Dowling](/source/Terry_Dowling), and the winners of the inaugural AHWA flash fiction competition); and Issue #9 - the "Redback" themed issue (featuring nine prominent female horror/speculative fiction writers, including [K J Bishop](/source/K._J._Bishop), [Kaaron Warren](/source/Kaaron_Warren), [Deborah Biancotti](/source/Deborah_Biancotti), and [Kirstyn McDermott](/source/Kirstyn_McDermott).) All *Shadowed Realms* issues have been electronically archived as part of the [National Archives of Australia](/source/National_Archives_of_Australia)'s Pandora project.[4] The magazine ceased publication some time in 2007.[5] ### Published authors *Shadowed Realms* published many prominent Australian [horror writers](/source/Horror_fiction) such as [Stephen Dedman](/source/Stephen_Dedman), [Lee Battersby](/source/Lee_Battersby), [Martin Livings](/source/Martin_Livings), and [Paul Haines](/source/Paul_Haines_(fiction_writer)), and a number of US and UK horror authors including [Kurt Newton](/source/Kurt_Newton), Greg Beatty, [Alistair Rennie](/source/Alistair_Rennie) and Eric Marin.[6] ### Milestones *Shadowed Realms* was the first Australian [horror](/source/Horror_fiction) [webzine](/source/Webzine) to be recognised by the [Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America](/source/Science_Fiction_and_Fantasy_Writers_of_America) (SFWA) as a professional short fiction publication.[7] *Shadowed Realms* was also the first electronic magazine to be nominated for the Best Collected Work.
