**Seyoon Kim** ([Korean](/source/Korean_language): 김세윤; born 30 September 1946) is a [biblical scholar](/source/Biblical_studies), associate dean for the Korean Doctor of Ministry program and professor of New Testament at [Fuller Theological Seminary](/source/Fuller_Theological_Seminary).

## Biography

He was born in Chonbuk, [South Korea](/source/South_Korea), and was educated at the [University of Tübingen](/source/University_of_T%C3%BCbingen) and the [University of Manchester](/source/University_of_Manchester). He specializes in Jesus studies, Pauline studies, New Testament Christology, Jesus and Paul. He studied with [F. F. Bruce](/source/F._F._Bruce).

## Contribution

Seyoon Kim is best known for *The Origin of Paul's Gospel*, in which he argues that all of [Paul](/source/Paul_the_Apostle)'s identity and [theology](/source/Pauline_Christianity) come from his [experience on the Damascus Road](/source/Conversion_of_Paul_the_Apostle). For example, when Jesus said, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?", the way Jesus identifies with his people leads to the idea of [union with Christ](/source/Union_with_Christ).[1]
