Until 2010, it was also the name of the [municipality](/source/Municipalities_of_the_Netherlands) comprising the towns of Sevenum, [Kronenberg](/source/Kronenberg_(Netherlands)) and [Evertsoord](/source/Evertsoord). Amusement park [Toverland](/source/Toverland) is located in Sevenum.

== Location ==
Sevenum's neighbour towns are (clockwise, starting from East): [Blerick](/source/Blerick), [Venlo](/source/Venlo), [Maasbree](/source/Maasbree), Evertsoord, Kronenberg, and [Hegelsom](/source/Hegelsom). Currently, Sevenum is part of the municipality [Horst aan de Maas](/source/Horst_aan_de_Maas), and is the second biggest town, after [Horst, Limburg](/source/Horst%2C_Limburg).

Sevenum-town and Kronenberg are tangented by highway [E34](/source/International_E-road_network), provincial road N277 ([Middenpeelweg](/source/Middenpeelweg)), and the railroad track [Eindhoven](/source/Eindhoven)-[Venlo](/source/Venlo); Evertsoord lies on the edge of the [Peel](/source/Peel%2C_Netherlands), a former [peat](/source/peat)land.

==Dialect==
Sevenum's dialect, "Zaerums", is transitional between [Limburgish](/source/Limburgish), North-Limburgish (see [Low Rhenish](/source/Low_Rhenish)), and [Brabantian](/source/Brabantian_dialect), which all have tentative borders within a larger [dialect continuum](/source/dialect_continuum).
