{{Short description|Stringed musical instrument}}
The '''setor''' ([Tajik](/source/Tajiki_language): сетор) is a stringed musical instrument played in the eastern regions of [Tajikistan](/source/Tajikistan), within the [Pamiri](/source/Pamiri_people) culture. It is a much larger instrument than the Iranian [setar](/source/setar), and more closely resembles the [Uzbek](/source/Uzbekistan) [tanbur](/source/tanbur) or [Indian](/source/India) [sitar](/source/sitar).

The setor has metal strings and is played with wire [fingerpick](/source/fingerpick)s.

The body of the setor is made like a [dutar](/source/dutar), with separate ribs. The [soundboard](/source/Sound_board_(music)) is made of [softwood](/source/softwood), with soundholes drilled into it. The neck is wide and hollow, with a straight pegbox.

There are generally 10 metal strings, including a few extra drone strings starting from pegs half way on the left side of the [neck](/source/Neck_(music)). The [frets](/source/Fret) are wound-on nylon or gut.<ref>{{cite web |title= Music and Poetry from the Pamir Mountains Musical instruments|publisher= The Institute of Ismaili Studies |archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20131214012209/https://www.iis.ac.uk/view_article.asp?ContentID=106106 |archive-date= 14 December 2013 |url= https://www.iis.ac.uk/view_article.asp?ContentID=106106|date= 1 September 2010}}</ref>
