Born in [Basra](/source/Basra), [Iraq](/source/Iraq), to a family of [Christian](/source/Christians) [Iraqi Armenians](/source/Iraqi_Armenians). Her father was a tennis player who represented Iraq in numerous tournaments. Soon after Hagopian's career had begun, she was working with the most prominent composers such as Tariq al-Shibli, Farouk Hilal Khammash, [Elias Rahbani](/source/Elias_Rahbani) and Ahmed Qasim.<ref name=":0">{{Cite web|url=https://ajammc.com/2017/05/15/seta-hagopian-fairuz-iraq/|title=Seta Hagopian, the Fairuz of Iraq|date=May 15, 2017|website=Ajam Media Collective|access-date=January 1, 2019}}</ref>

Hagopian's style of music was one of the first to renew Iraqi songs through the introduction of Western instruments along with singing contemporary pop music. She has held concerts across the entire [Arab world](/source/Arab_world), including [Iraq](/source/Iraq), [Egypt](/source/Egypt), [Algeria](/source/Algeria), the [United Arab Emirates](/source/United_Arab_Emirates), [Qatar](/source/Qatar) as well as across Europe in Uzbekistan, Russia, Germany, [Bulgaria](/source/Bulgaria) and Spain.

Hagopian left Iraq to settle in [Qatar](/source/Qatar) in 1997. Since 2013 she resides in [Toronto](/source/Toronto), [Canada](/source/Canada).<ref name=":0" />

She is married to director Emad Bahjat. [Nova Emad](/source/Nova_Emad) is a singer who currently resides in Canada and is following in her mother's footsteps in renewing the classical Iraqi music by infusing it with new genres, like hip hop/trance and Bossa-Nova. Naire is an editor, director, and photographer.
