## History

Sestao managed to play 17 seasons in [Segunda División](/source/Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n), first staying seven seasons from 1954 but before the creation of [Segunda División B](/source/Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n_B), then from 1985 to 1993.

After the [1995–96 campaign](/source/1995%E2%80%9396_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n), its final in level two, Sestao, which had been relegated through play, suffered another drop off, and folded due to unsurmountable economic problems.[1][2] Following its demise, [Sestao River Club](/source/Sestao_River_Club) was founded.
