The **Serbian Left** ([Serbian](/source/Serbian_language): Српска левица, [romanized](/source/Romanization_of_Serbian): *Srpska levica*, abbr. **SL**) is a [political party](/source/List_of_political_parties_in_Serbia) in [Serbia](/source/Serbia). It was established in January 2022, as a direct successor of the [Communist Party](/source/Communist_Party_(Serbia)), an unofficial descendant of the former [League of Communists of Serbia](/source/League_of_Communists_of_Serbia).

## History

The Serbian Left (SL) was formed in January 2022 as a successor to the [Communist Party](/source/Communist_Party_(Serbia)).[1]

It planned to contest the [2022 Serbian parliamentary election](/source/2022_Serbian_parliamentary_election), but it ultimately did not.[1] According to Milojičić, the party is in opposition to the [Aleksandar Vučić](/source/Aleksandar_Vu%C4%8Di%C4%87) and [Serbian Progressive Party](/source/Serbian_Progressive_Party) (SNS)-led government, although Broz still served in the [Socialist Party of Serbia](/source/Socialist_Party_of_Serbia) parliamentary group after SL was formed.[2][3] For the [2023 Serbian parliamentary election](/source/2023_Serbian_parliamentary_election), SL participated on the SNS electoral list[4] and gained one seat in the [National Assembly](/source/National_Assembly_(Serbia)).

In June 2024, Milojičić resigned as the party president and joined SNS.[5]

## Organisation

Its leader until 2024 was [Radoslav Milojičić](/source/Radoslav_Miloji%C4%8Di%C4%87), former [Democratic Party](/source/Democratic_Party_(Serbia)) member of the National Assembly,[1][6] while its honorary president is [Joška Broz](/source/Jo%C5%A1ka_Broz), former leader of the Communist Party.[7]
