The **Serbian Left** ([Serbian](/source/Serbian_language): Левица србије, ЛС / Levica Srbije, LS) was a minor [centre-left](/source/Centre-left) [social democratic](/source/Social_democracy) political party in [Serbia](/source/Serbia). In April 2019 the Serbian Left merged into [Dragan Đilas](/source/Dragan_%C4%90ilas)'s [Party of Freedom and Justice](/source/Party_of_Freedom_and_Justice) (SSP).

## History

The Serbian Left was founded by [Borko Stefanović](/source/Borko_Stefanovi%C4%87) as a splinter from the [Democratic Party](/source/Democratic_Party_(Serbia)).[1]

In the [2017 Serbian presidential election](/source/2017_Serbian_presidential_election), the Serbian Left supported "either Janković or Jeremić".[2]

An attack on its leader Stefanović in late 2018 was instrumental in kicking off [major protests](/source/Serbian_protests_(2018%E2%80%93present)) around the country.[3]

It merged into the center-left [Party of Freedom and Justice](/source/Party_of_Freedom_and_Justice) formed by former [Mayor of Belgrade](/source/Mayor_of_Belgrade) [Dragan Đilas](/source/Dragan_%C4%90ilas) in April 2019.[4]
