"**Self Destructor**" is a song by American [rock](/source/Rock_music) band [Chevelle](/source/Chevelle_(band)). The song was released as the lead single from the band's ninth studio album *[NIRATIAS](/source/NIRATIAS)*. The single [reached no. 1](/source/List_of_Billboard_Mainstream_Rock_number-one_songs_of_the_2020s) on the *[Billboard](/source/Billboard_(magazine))* [Mainstream Rock](/source/Mainstream_Rock_(chart)) chart, becoming the band's sixth song to do so, and 35th on the *[Billboard](/source/Billboard_(magazine))* [Alternative Airplay](/source/Alternative_Airplay) chart. This track is included in the 2021 film, *[Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard](/source/Hitman's_Wife's_Bodyguard)*.[2] [James LaBrie](/source/James_LaBrie) of [Dream Theater](/source/Dream_Theater) called it his favorite song of 2021.[3]

## Composition

In an interview with *[Loudwire](/source/Loudwire)*, frontman Pete Loeffler stated that the song was written in 2019 and is about science deniers.[4]
