Instrumental

**Selamat Sultan** (pronounced [\[sə.la.mat sul.tan\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Malay)) is the state anthem of [Kelantan](/source/Kelantan), [Malaysia](/source/Malaysia). Its melody was composed in 1927 by Allahyarham Mohamed bin Hamzah Saaid (1895–1971), the [Goa](/source/Goa)-born Bandmaster of the Kelantan Police Band who was ordered to have an instrumental song played for the then-[Sultan of Kelantan](/source/Sultan_of_Kelantan), Sultan Ismail ibni Sultan Muhammad IV.[1] Subsequently, the words were composed by [Tengku Mahmood Mahyideen](/source/Tengku_Mahmood_Mahyideen) (1908-1954), who was the State Superintendent of Education at that time.[1][2]
