The **Scurlock Oil Company** was an American [oil company](/source/Oil_company), with headquarters located in [Houston](/source/Houston), [Texas](/source/Texas).

## History

Founded in 1936 by [Eddy C. Scurlock](/source/Eddy_C._Scurlock), the company was a [tank car](/source/Tank_car) marketer of [petroleum products](/source/Petroleum_product). It emerged as an important [transporter](/source/Transport) of crude oil and [natural-gas condensate](/source/Natural-gas_condensate).[1]

By 1982, the Scurlock Oil Company was transporting 200,000 barrels (32,000 m3) of oil a day by [truck](/source/Truck), [barge](/source/Barge), or [pipeline](/source/Pipeline_transport).

Also in 1982, the Scurlock Oil Company was sold to [Ashland Oil](/source/Ashland_Inc.). When Ashland bought the Permian Corporation in 1991, it merged with Scurlock to form a subsidiary known as Scurlock Permian Corporation.

The Scurlock Permian Corporation subsidiary was sold to [Plains All American Pipeline](/source/Plains_All_American_Pipeline) in 1999.
