He studied Drama at [Queen Margaret University](/source/Queen_Margaret_University) in Edinburgh.[3][4] ## Career Prior to *Bluestone 42*, his television appearances included the 100th episode of crime drama *[Taggart](/source/Taggart_(series))*, and one episode of BBC prime time drama series *[Case Histories](/source/Case_Histories_(TV_series))*[5] Hoatson fronted the television advertising campaign for Scottish supermarket chain [Farmfoods](/source/Farmfoods) in 2008.[6] In 2011 Hoatson played the part of Carl in *[The Wicker Tree](/source/The_Wicker_Tree)*, director [Robin Hardy](/source/Robin_Hardy_(film_director))'s follow-up to his 1970s film, *[The Wicker Man](/source/The_Wicker_Man_(1973_film))*. Scott is also BBC One & Two [Television continuity announcer](/source/List_of_continuity_announcers_in_the_United_Kingdom).[7] Scott has appeared in recent global tours to the USA, Canada, Dubai, Australia and Hong Kong playing Harry Potter in the [Olivier nominated](/source/Laurence_Olivier_Awards) theatre show [*Potted Potter*](https://www.pottedpotter.com).[8] Radio appearances included BBC Radio 4's production of *[MacMillan's Marvelous Motion Machine](https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01169k5)* and BBC Radio Scotland's *[Sybil Law](https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b010y33n)*.[9] Hoatson played lead roles in several theatrical productions, including the part of Cuddy in The Empty Space's 2011 production of *Heartbreak Soup*[10] and Davie Balfour in Cumbernauld Theatre's 2012 production of [*Kidnapped*](/source/Kidnapped_(novel)) by [Robert Louis Stevenson](/source/Robert_Louis_Stevenson).[9][11] In 2008, Hoatson played "Barry" in [D.C.
