==Description==
Schubert Inlet is {{convert|14|nmi|mi km}} long and {{convert|5|nmi|mi km}} wide, indenting the west coast of [Alexander Island](/source/Alexander_Island), lying between the [Colbert Mountains](/source/Colbert_Mountains) north of the inlet and the [Walton Mountains](/source/Walton_Mountains) south of the inlet. The inlet receives ice flowing into it throughout the whole year, mainly because the inlet is adjacent to the [Wilkins Ice Shelf](/source/Wilkins_Ice_Shelf), which lies immediately west.

The inlet was first mapped from air photos taken by the [Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition](/source/Ronne_Antarctic_Research_Expedition) in 1947–48, by Searle of the [Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey](/source/Falkland_Islands_Dependencies_Survey) in 1960. It was named by the [United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee](/source/United_Kingdom_Antarctic_Place-Names_Committee) for [Franz Schubert](/source/Franz_Schubert) (1797–1828), Austrian composer.
