**Schladen** (German pronunciation: [\[ˈʃlaːdn̩\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Standard_German)) is a village and a former municipality in the [district of Wolfenbüttel](/source/Wolfenb%C3%BCttel_(district)), in [Lower Saxony](/source/Lower_Saxony), [Germany](/source/Germany). Since 1 November 2013, it is part of the municipality [Schladen-Werla](/source/Schladen-Werla). It is situated on the river [Oker](/source/Oker), approx. 15 km south of [Wolfenbüttel](/source/Wolfenb%C3%BCttel), and 25 km south of [Braunschweig](/source/Braunschweig).

Schladen was the seat of the former *[Samtgemeinde](/source/Samtgemeinde)* ("collective municipality") [Schladen](/source/Schladen_(Samtgemeinde)). The German [neoclassicist](/source/Neoclassicism) [architect](/source/Architect), [painter](/source/Painter) and [writer](/source/Writer) [Leo von Klenze](/source/Leo_von_Klenze) was born in Schladen on February 29, 1784.
