The '''Scar Inlet''' is an area of the [Larsen Ice Shelf](/source/Larsen_Ice_Shelf) immediately northwest of [Jason Peninsula](/source/Jason_Peninsula), named after the [Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research](/source/Scientific_Committee_on_Antarctic_Research).<ref>{{Cite web|url = https://data.antarctica.gov.au/aadc/gaz/display_name.cfm?gaz_id=131248|title = Scar Inlet|date = |accessdate = 2016-10-20|website = data.antarctica.gov.au|publisher = |last = |first = }}</ref> It is bounded by [Tashtego Point](/source/Tashtego_Point) and [Chapman Point](/source/Chapman_Point).

==History==
The region was discovered in 1902 by [Otto Nordenskjöld](/source/Otto_Nordenskj%C3%B6ld), leader of the [Swedish Antarctic Expedition](/source/Swedish_Antarctic_Expedition), 1901–04, who gave the name "Scott Bay". The name did not survived in usage, perhaps due to the large number of features already named after Captain [Robert F. Scott](/source/Robert_F._Scott). The present name was given in 1963 by the [UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee](/source/UK_Antarctic_Place-Names_Committee) (UK-APC) after the [Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research](/source/Scientific_Committee_on_Antarctic_Research) of the [International Council of Scientific Unions](/source/International_Council_of_Scientific_Unions), in recognition of the role of this organization in furthering scientific research in the Antarctic.
