The '''Savuto''' is a [river](/source/river) and [valley](/source/valley) in [Calabria](/source/Calabria),  Southern [Italy](/source/Italy), that lies at the intersection of the provinces of [Cosenza](/source/Province_of_Cosenza) and [Catanzaro](/source/Province_of_Catanzaro). It is also the name of a [DOC](/source/Denominazione_di_Origine_Controllata) [wine](/source/wine) produced in the region.

The river's source is in [La Sila](/source/La_Sila) and it empties into the [Tyrrhenian Sea](/source/Tyrrhenian_Sea), at the [Gulf of Saint Euphemia](/source/Gulf_of_Saint_Euphemia), after a run of {{convert|48|km|mi}}.

The name originates from the [Latin](/source/Latin) ''Sabutus'',<ref>{{cite book |title=Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World: Map-By-Map Directory |editor=Richard J.A. Talbert |volume=I |year=2000 |publisher=Princeton University Press |location=Princeton, NJ and Oxford, UK |isbn=0691049459 |page=700 }}</ref> and it may also correspond to the Greek ''Ocinaros'' ("that flows quickly"), on which there was located the ancient town of [Temesa](/source/Temesa_(ancient_city)).

It is also the name of a small village near the river

The river is crossed by a Roman bridge along the Roman [Via Popilia](/source/Via_Popilia), the Ponte sul Savuto, or Hannibal's bridge.
