**Satterley** is an Australian privately owned real estate [land development](/source/Land_development) company based in [Perth](/source/Perth). It develops residential estates in [Queensland](/source/Queensland), [Victoria](/source/Victoria,_Australia) and [Western Australia](/source/Western_Australia).

## History

Satterleyp is based in [Perth](/source/Perth), [Western Australia](/source/Western_Australia).[1] The company was founded by [Nigel Satterley](/source/Nigel_Satterley) in 1980.[2][3][4][5] Satterley began his career working for [James McCusker](/source/James_McCusker_(banker)), the founder of the [Town & Country Bank](/source/Town_%26_Country_Bank). This led him to found Statesman Homes, which was sold in 1980, the same year Nigel Satterley founded Satterley Crofts.[6]

During the 1980s, Satterley Crofts became part of an international controversy surrounding land selling expeditions to [Singapore](/source/Singapore).[7] By the 1990s, 70% of private new estate land in Perth was owned by Satterley, with 80 staff and $350 million in annual sales.[7]

Western Australian hansard records in 1995 mention that Satterley Real Estate controlled the development of the [Kwinana Freeway](/source/Kwinana_Freeway).[8] Hansard records also mention Satterley Real Estate implementing security programs during the Kwinana redevelopment,[9] and involvement in the [Dalyellup](/source/Dalyellup) development.[10]

In November 1997, Shadow Minister for Transport [Alannah MacTiernan](/source/Alannah_MacTiernan) told parliament about a person who was left homeless and penniless after being misled by Satterley Real Estate.[11] MacTiernan said that despite the complaint being lodged in 1990, and bought directly to the Minister for Fair Trading [Peter Foss](/source/Peter_Foss) in 1994, minimal action was taken, and only after receiving attention in the Sunday Times in 1995.

By 1998 Satterley/McCusker was confirmed to be managing at least the suburbs of [Balga](/source/Balga,_Western_Australia), [Girrawheen](/source/Girrawheen), [Koondoola](/source/Koondoola), [Westminster](/source/Westminster,_Western_Australia) and [Armadale](/source/Armadale,_Western_Australia).[12]

Today it is a major land developer in [Queensland](/source/Queensland), [Victoria](/source/Victoria,_Australia) and [Western Australia](/source/Western_Australia).[6] Satterley's developments include the Perth suburbs of , , , . , and .
