# Satrup

**Satrup** (ˈzaːtʁʊp) is a village and a former municipality in the district of [Schleswig-Flensburg](/source/Schleswig-Flensburg), in [Schleswig-Holstein](/source/Schleswig-Holstein), [Germany](/source/Germany). It is situated approximately 20 km north of [Schleswig](/source/Schleswig_(city)), and 15 km southeast of [Flensburg](/source/Flensburg). Since 1 March 2013, it is part of the municipality [Mittelangeln](/source/Mittelangeln). Satrup is the seat of the *[Amt](/source/Amt_(subnational_entity))* ("collective municipality") [Mittelangeln](/source/Mittelangeln_(Amt)). In early May 1945 [Heinrich Himmler](/source/Heinrich_Himmler), former [Reichsführer-SS](/source/Reichsf%C3%BChrer-SS), stayed in a farm near the village for several days while attempting to avoid capture by the Allies.
