# Sarangesa phidyle

***Sarangesa phidyle***, also known as the **orange flat** or **small elfin**, is a species of [butterfly](/source/Butterfly) in the family [Hesperiidae](/source/Hesperiidae). It is found from Botswana, south-west Africa, Saudi Arabia, Sudan. In South Africa it is found from the eastern Cape to [Eswatini](/source/Eswatini), [KwaZulu-Natal](/source/KwaZulu-Natal), [Mpumalanga](/source/Mpumalanga) and the [Limpopo Province](/source/Limpopo_Province), the [North West Province](/source/North_West_Province,_South_Africa) and [Gauteng](/source/Gauteng).

The [wingspan](/source/Wingspan) is 26–38 mm. Adults are on wing year-round, although they are scarcer in winter and the dry season.[2]

The larvae feed on *[Barleria](/source/Barleria)* and *[Peristrophe](/source/Peristrophe)* species (including *[Peristrophe hensii](/source/Peristrophe_hensii)*).
