Steele had her breakout role as Bernice in the 2004 comedy drama film ''[Spanglish](/source/Spanglish_(film))''. Steele went on to appear in an episode of the crime drama series ''[Law & Order](/source/Law_%26_Order)''; the dark comedy film ''[Mr. Gibb](/source/Mr._Gibb)'', which co-stars [Hayden Panettiere](/source/Hayden_Panettiere), [Tim Daly](/source/Tim_Daly) and [Dan Hedaya](/source/Dan_Hedaya); and the drama film ''[Margaret](/source/Margaret_(2011_film))'', which co-stars [Matt Damon](/source/Matt_Damon), [Matthew Broderick](/source/Matthew_Broderick), [Anna Paquin](/source/Anna_Paquin), [Mark Ruffalo](/source/Mark_Ruffalo), and [Allison Janney](/source/Allison_Janney).
