**Sarah Caroline Jarvis** [FRCGP](/source/FRCGP) (born 3 December 1962)[citation needed] is an English [general practitioner](/source/General_practitioner), broadcaster, and television doctor.

## Early life

Jarvis was educated at [Millfield](/source/Millfield), [Street](/source/Street,_Somerset), [Somerset](/source/Somerset).[1]

## Career

Jarvis qualified as a medical doctor in July 1986 from the [University of Oxford](/source/University_of_Oxford) with BM BCh degrees, having graduated from the [University of Cambridge](/source/University_of_Cambridge) with a pre-clinical degree in 1983, and was later awarded the Fellowship of the [Royal College of General Practitioners](/source/Royal_College_of_General_Practitioners)[when?].[2][3]

Jarvis resigned as a partner and GP trainer[3] after 27 years in her [Shepherd's Bush](/source/Shepherd's_Bush) practice; she had joined the practice in 1990.[4] She now works as a locum.

She is the health and medical reporter for *[The One Show](/source/The_One_Show)*; she is also a television doctor on *[Good Morning Britain](/source/Good_Morning_Britain_(2014_TV_programme))*, *[ITV News](/source/ITV_News)* and *[Jeremy Vine](/source/Jeremy_Vine_(TV_programme))*;[5] and she is a regular guest on the Mondays edition of "The Jeremy Vine Show" on [BBC Radio 2](/source/BBC_Radio_2). She is also the Clinical Director for health website [Patient UK](/source/Patient_UK).

Jarvis was appointed an MBE in the 2018 New Year Honours list for services to general practice and public understanding of health.[6]

## Personal life

Jarvis lives in [Warwickshire](/source/Warwickshire) with her husband, Tim, and their [English springer spaniel](/source/English_springer_spaniel). She is a mother of two, a keen gardener[6] and enjoys walking and [scuba diving](/source/Scuba_diving).
