**Sarah Dambanevana** (born 26 May 1990) is a Zimbabwean [cricket](/source/Cricket) [umpire](/source/Umpire_(cricket)) and former international cricketer.[1] She played for the [Zimbabwe women's cricket team](/source/Zimbabwe_women's_cricket_team) between 2009 and 2014, including at the [2011 World Cup Qualifier](/source/2011_Women's_Cricket_World_Cup_Qualifier).[2] In 2022, she was added to the [Development Panel of ICC Umpires](/source/Development_Panel_of_ICC_Umpires).[3][4] She was one of the female umpires named by the ICC to stand in matches in the [2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup](/source/2024_ICC_Women's_T20_World_Cup).[5] She became the first female Zimbabwean to make her international umpiring debut in [ICC Women's T20 World Cup](/source/ICC_Women's_T20_World_Cup).[6]

## Cricket career

In 2010, she played her first international match for Zimbabwe against [Kenya](/source/Kenya_women's_cricket_team) in Women's World Cup Qualifying Series Africa Region on 17 December 2010.[7] She played [List A cricket](/source/List_A_cricket) for Zimbabwe women in [2011 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier](/source/2011_Women's_Cricket_World_Cup_Qualifier) in 2011.[8] She also featured Zimbabwe women's in Regional T20 world cup qualifiers in Tanzania in 2012.[9] In 2013, she played T20 for Zimbabwe women's team against South Africa Emerging women's team.[10]

## Umpiring career

She first time officiated as an on-field umpire in [List A](/source/List_A_cricket) match on 24 October 2022, in the [Pro50 Championship](/source/Pro50_Championship), when she was one of the umpires in the match between [Eagles](/source/Mashonaland_Eagles) and [Rhinos](/source/Mid_West_Rhinos).[11][12]

In January 2023, she was selected as match officials for the [Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup](/source/2023_Under-19_Women's_T20_World_Cup).[13][14] She was one of the on-field umpire in [2023 Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup](/source/2023_Under-19_Women's_T20_World_Cup) final and became the first female Zimbabwean umpire to stand in a Cricket World Cup final.[15][16][17]

In September 2023, she stood as on-field umpire in international match in [women's T20I](/source/Women's_Twenty20_International) between [Botswana](/source/Botswana_women's_national_cricket_team) and [Kenya](/source/Kenya_women's_national_cricket_team) in [2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier](/source/2023_ICC_Women's_T20_World_Cup_Africa_Qualifier).[18][19] In November 2023, she first time officiate as on field in [men's T20I](/source/Twenty20_International) between [Kenya](/source/Kenya_national_cricket_team) and [Rwanda](/source/Rwanda_national_cricket_team) in [2022–23 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier](/source/2022%E2%80%9323_ICC_Men's_T20_World_Cup_Africa_Qualifier).[20] In January 2024, she stood as on-field umpire in [women's ODI](/source/Women's_One_Day_International) between [Zimbabwe and Ireland](/source/Ireland_women's_cricket_team_in_Zimbabwe_in_2023%E2%80%9324) on 18 January 2024.[21]

On 15 February 2024, she became the first Zimbabwean woman umpires to stand as an on-field umpire in a [men's domestic fixture in Zimbabwe](/source/Logan_Cup), when she was one of the umpires in the match between [Eagles](/source/Mashonaland_Eagles) and [Mountaineers](/source/Mountaineers_cricket_team) in the [2023–24 Logan Cup](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_Logan_Cup).[22][23]
