# Santschiella

***Santschiella*** is an [Afrotropical](/source/Afrotropical) [genus](/source/Genus) of [ants](/source/Ant) in the [subfamily](/source/Subfamily) [Formicinae](/source/Formicinae).[1] It contains the [single species](/source/Monotypic_taxon) ***Santschiella kohli***, described by [Forel](/source/August_Forel) in 1916 from the [Democratic Republic of the Congo](/source/Democratic_Republic_of_the_Congo). The genus is known only from workers, measuring about 3 mm in length and with large eyes.[2] Forel (1917) placed *Santschiella* in its own [tribe](/source/Tribe_(biology)), Santschiellini, where it remained until [Bolton](/source/Barry_Bolton) (2003) moved it to Gesomyrmecini.[3][4]
