# Santomeri

**Santomeri** (Greek: Σαντομέρι) is a village and a community in the municipal unit of [Olenia](/source/Olenia), [Achaea](/source/Achaea), [Greece](/source/Greece). It is located on the northern end of Mount [Skollis](/source/Skollis), 5 km north of [Portes](/source/Portes,_Achaea), 18 km south of [Kato Achaia](/source/Kato_Achaia) and 32 km southwest of [Patras](/source/Patras). The community includes the villages Ampelakia and Polylofo.

## History

Santomeri is named after [Nicholas III of Saint Omer](/source/Nicholas_III_of_Saint_Omer), a [French](/source/Fragkokratia) baron of [Thebes](/source/Thebes,_Greece) who gave his name to the castle [Santameri](/source/Santameri_Castle) and the nearby mountain, now known as [Skollis](/source/Skollis). Venetians called it Edrolcamo?.[citation needed]
