She moved to the [US](/source/United_States) from [India](/source/India) when she was fifteen years old.[4] She had a hard-time growing up in two different cultures and says that she always wanted to be a writer, but her family pressured her to study [medicine](/source/Medicine).[4] ## Career Menon writes [young adult](/source/Young_adult_fiction) fiction for [teenagers](/source/Adolescence) and [rom-coms](/source/Rom_com), often with Indian-American protagonists. Her first book *[When Dimple Met Rishi](/source/When_Dimple_Met_Rishi)* was published in 2017. It's a [young adult](/source/Young_adult_fiction) [rom-com](/source/Romantic_comedy) about two Indian-American teenagers, Dimple and Rishi, whose parents are trying to arrange their marriage.
