**Sandeid**[3] is a village in [Vindafjord Municipality](/source/Vindafjord_Municipality) in [Rogaland](/source/Rogaland) county, [Norway](/source/Norway). The village is located at the head of the [Sandeidfjorden](/source/Sandeidfjorden), about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) northwest of the village of [Vikedal](/source/Vikedal) and about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) south of the village of [Ølensjøen](/source/%C3%98lensj%C3%B8en).[4]

The 0.63-square-kilometre (160-acre) village has a population (2025) of 762 and a [population density](/source/Population_density) of 1,210 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,100/sq mi).[1]

Sandeid has a [slaughterhouse](/source/Slaughterhouse), [sand pits](/source/Sand_pit), and a [cement factory](/source/Cement_factory). [Sandeid Church](/source/Sandeid_Church) is also located in the village.[4]

## History

The village was an [administrative centre](/source/Administrative_centre) for many years. It was the administrative centre of the old [Sandeid Municipality](/source/Sandeid_Municipality) from 1923 until 1965 when it was merged into [Vindafjord Municipality](/source/Vindafjord_Municipality). Then, the village was then the administrative centre of Vindafjord Municipality from 1965 until 2006. In 2006, [Ølen Municipality](/source/%C3%98len_Municipality) was merged into Vindafjord Municipality. Since 2006, the administrative centre of Vindafjord Municipality has been the village of [Ølen](/source/%C3%98lensj%C3%B8en) in what was previously Ølen Municipality.[4]
