The brand was originally used for Samsung's [Windows 8](/source/Windows_8) and [Windows Phone 8](/source/Windows_Phone_8)-based [tablet](/source/tablet_computer)s and smartphones, including one device running [Windows RT](/source/Windows_RT). Ativ was the result of the unification of its Windows-based Samsung Series computers and [Samsung Omnia](/source/Samsung_Omnia) mobiles.
