Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) [Pho Thong](/source/Amphoe_Pho_Thong) and [Wiset Chai Chan](/source/Amphoe_Wiset_Chai_Chan) of Ang Thong Province and [Si Prachan](/source/Amphoe_Si_Prachan) of [Suphanburi province](/source/Suphanburi_province).

The district is divided into five sub-districts (''[tambon](/source/tambon)'') and 37 administrative villages (''[muban](/source/muban)''). The sub-district municipality (''[thesaban tambon](/source/thesaban_tambon)'') Samko covers the ''tambon'' Samko, Ratsadon Phatthana, and Mongkhon Tham Nimit. Op Thom and Pho Muang Phan have a [tambon administrative organization](/source/tambon_administrative_organization) as their local government.
