==Statistics==
It measures {{convert|40|km2|sqmi|0|abbr=off}} in area, making it the smallest of the three inhabited islands of the group, after the main island of Socotra and [Abd al Kuri](/source/Abd_al_Kuri). The population of some 100 lives in a village on the western part of the north coast.{{fact|date=July 2021}} Samhah and neighboring [Darsah](/source/Darsah) ({{convert|17|km|0|abbr=on}} to the east) are collectively known as "Al Akhawain" ({{langx|ar|الأخوين}}), which means "the two brothers". The island of Samhah measures {{convert|12|km|mi|0|abbr=off}} in length and {{convert|6.8|km|mi|1|abbr=off}} in width.

==Important Bird Area==
